I'm Maria Isabel Fleury, Canadian-Venezuelan artist. I moved with my family to Canada in 2014 and
immediately fell in love with the Canadian landscape.
Originally
from Venezuela, and never before having experienced the evolution of
nature through the seasons, I was blown away by the power of nature to
evolve. I have travelled extensively in Canada in search of
inspiration. I combine my love for the outdoors and photography with the
fascination to express the natural beauty of the Canadian outdoors in
my canvases.
I began my
art journey as a self-taught artist until I joined the Mastrius
Community in 2021. I have now benefited from the instruction of master
artists such as David Langevin, Heather Pant and currently Charlie
Easton.
I work
from my home studio in Oakville, Ontario. I paint in acrylics, using
bold and vibrant colours typical of my Latin American roots. I love to
describe my work as ‘Canadian Landscape with a Latin-American twist’.
‘Being
drawn into the painting’, ‘being in the forest’, ‘feeling the breeze
looking up the trees’, ‘feeling hope and happiness’ are some of the
reactions expressed by people that get to experience my art.
I have
participated in a number of art shows and group exhibits in Canada. My
work is collected in Canada, Venezuela and Europe. Every year I donate
select paintings to different charities, including the Pediatric
Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO).
I’m open to commissions. Please contact me for further details.
